Picture this: WERC’s Global Workforce Symposium in Washington, where we had the best and brightest mobility experts, a room buzzing with excitement (and caffeine) and a mission to solve the mysteries of the mobility universe.
The session, “Take 5 (years): global mobility innovation and how to navigate tech, talent, ESG, and geopolitics for 2030,” saw a dream team of relo experts each lead a roundtable discussion on future planning:
From the geopolitical landscape and talent engagement, to ESG and all-things tech, we kicked things off with a live poll, asking folks to describe the current world in one term. And “change” was the winner, evoking additional comments around speed, timeliness and necessity, but also raising a sense of trepidation with terms such as “chaos”, “competition”, and “cost” being submitted.
With almost 200 attendees (half from a corporate mobility function and an additional 31% hailing from logistical service providers), the session exceeded my expectations and became a hub of questions, puzzles, and challenges addressed:
A final thank you to everyone who attended our WERC session. Your thoughts and energy made the event one that our team will remember fondly until (at least) 2030.
At the workshop’s conclusion, attendees were asked to summarise what the world of mobility would face in 2030 and once again, “change” was highlighted as a leading contender. Although, this time it came with more positive qualifiers like “evolution”, “transformational” and my personal favourite, “bright but different”.
We now have just over five years to prove this group’s bright view of the mobility landscape correct. No pressure.
