top tips for getting your home ready for sale in autumn

The relocation process involves many diverse steps, one of which may be selling your home. It can prove to be the barrier between a smooth and seamless relocation and an extensive and frustrating process. One recommended technique for home sale success is keeping the exterior of your home in good condition but we acknowledge that that may be easier said than done, especially because each season brings its own set of elements that take a toll on the exterior of your home.

As we ease into the start of Autumn, in many parts of the world, let’s consider five top tips to help you increase your property’s curb appeal ahead of placing it on the market this Autumn:

  1. Clear and mow the lawn. Landscaping is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to improve your home’s appeal and value. 10- or 15-minutes of clearing the fallen leaves and mowing the lawn can really improve your property’s appearance.
  2. Don’t neglect the entryway. Whether it is cleaning the porch or painting the front door, the entrance to your property is the first thing a prospective buyer notices, so make sure it looks its best.
  3. Clean all the windows. It not only improves the property’s exterior, but guarantees prospective buyers have clear views from the inside.
  4. Ensure an evergreen appeal. It is easy to plant inviting flowers for the spring and summer, but if your property is on the market during the colder months, consider planting well-maintained (but hardy) evergreen plants and shrubs.
  5. How about some exterior lighting? Well-placed exterior lighting on patios or paths can be highly effective in creating a warm and welcoming property; and provide ease of viewing for prospective buyers, as the sun begins to set earlier in the day.

Whether it is autumn or spring in your part of the world, and whether you are planning to sell your home any time soon, it is always a good idea to get a head start on property maintenance for the upcoming season. Happy Cleaning!
