inclusive internships drive the industry upward

What does the word intern mean to you? Does your mind instantly picture a young person grabbing coffee for the team and sifting through the file cabinet, completing tedious tasks that no one else on the team wants to do? Or perhaps your mind shifts to your own internship experience?

reimagining the internship experience

For our interns, the Cartus Summer Internship Program is not simply a post on a LinkedIn page but rather a 15-week investment in the newest generation of diverse talent. This summer, we have 12 interns joining us, including three from the Upward Mobility Program. Our interns have been placed in several business areas, including Global Talent Mobility (our customer and client-facing teams) and Branding & Communications. As a partner of the Worldwide ERC-sponsored Upward Mobility Program, we have the opportunity to source, train, and learn from an elite group of students.

creating an equitable industry through upward mobility

  • The Upward Mobility Program, founded in 2021 and currently finishing its second summer of internships, was created to connect students of color to formative and paid work experiences within the mobility industry’s top organizations. Partnering with urban universities and HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), this program provides the building blocks to create greater diversity and inclusion in the mobility industry.
  • I am privileged to be on the leadership committee of this dynamic program and to coordinate an important aspect of the Upward Mobility experience, the career and personal development sessions provided to the interns throughout the summer.

By managing our internships through the Upward Mobility Program, Cartus can connect our interns to industry events and networking opportunities with mobility professionals from the wider industry, helping them to expand their knowledge of the relocation industry, becoming familiar with global trends, all while contributing to the teams they are a part of. Other benefits include the opportunity to connect with the other Upward Mobility interns working across the industry and a free WERC membership that gives them access to a wealth of online resources.

meet the interns!

Throughout the summer, Cartus’ interns are given the opportunity to get a sense of our company culture, our mobility solutions, and the industry as a whole. We would love for you to meet some of them! Over the next few weeks, Cartus will be publishing two blogs showcasing two of our (US-based) interns and asking them to share their experiences.

  • You will meet Charlyse: she just completed her associate degree in business administration at the ripe age of 19. She is interning with the Branding & Communications team, and if you have read our recent blogs or follow us on social media, you have already seen some of her work.
  • The second intern you will meet is Tattyanna, a first-generation college student and a rising senior at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, where she is majoring in business. Tattyanna is interning as a Relocation Consultant, and her job consists of scheduling client calls, sending emails/correspondents to current clients, and assisting full-time Cartus Consultants in their day-to-day roles. This fall, she will embark on a semester of studying abroad.

So, join us on our journey to get to know some of the newest members of our Cartus community as they share the highs, lows, turning points, and takeaways that have led them to conclude that Cartus is a place they want to be.

let’s stay in touch!
