recording & recap: training and rotational moves: supporting key talent webinar

I recently had the pleasure of hosting a Cartus webinar, “Training and Rotational Moves: Supporting Key Talent,” with a panel of experts including:

  • Sally Harris, Global Domestic Relocation Design Manager, Intel Corporation
  • James Wallace, Director, Global Mobility, Red Hat
  • Anja Vahldiek, Global Mobility Solutions Leader, EY
  • Brett Sipes, Managing Director, GTN

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our panelists for their insights. The best practices and real-life examples they shared were invaluable.

“Rotational Policy” is an umbrella term often used to describe a relocation program that supports key talent development activity. Such moves are commonly characterized by a temporary employee assignment before the individual accepts a role in a longer-term or permanent location.

Our latest survey report explores the intent of rotational assignments, key logistical considerations, and business priorities in providing these programs effectively. Our research highlighted the differences between US domestic and international moves. For example, 36% of employees on US domestic rotational assignments were primarily experienced current employees, and the second biggest group (at 27%) were new hires. At Cartus, we find that rotational programs in the US tend to be used to develop talent early in their careers. Whereas, for international programs, the assignees are typically more experienced (76%).
