National Day Parade Returns for Singapore’s 57th Birthday!

Singapore will celebrate its 57th year of independence on 9 August, Tuesday. This year, the annual National Day Parade (NDP) will return to the floating platform at Marina Bay and the theme is “Stronger Together, Majulah!”, a call for all Singaporeans to forge ahead as a united and strong people towards a better future.

“Stronger Together” reminds Singaporeans that unity in our diversity is what makes us stronger. “Majulah” means “onward”, encapsulates our hopes and spirit as a nation since our independence. It is a rallying call for Singaporeans to strive for a better future, as we emerge from COVID-19.

Although Singapore is a small nation in the Southeast Asian region, it is well-known for its garden city, world-leading airport, food paradise and rich culture. It is not surprising that Singapore remains a popular destination for assignees, with its excellent infrastructure, primary business language of English and a rich mix of both eastern and western cultures.

If you are in Singapore at this time, do catch the celebrations and activities lined up, from 6 August to 9 August. Events are taking place across various heartland locations and will conclude with fireworks displays at the main parade and selected heartland locations.

National Day Parade @ The Float

The National Day Parade returns in full force this year at the floating platform, where 26,000 spectators are expected to turn up for the event, after two years of scaled-down celebrations, due to the pandemic. The show will also see the return of the Total Defence Display by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and Home Team where audience can catch the air, sea, and land military assets in action. The parade and ceremony this year will comprise of 2,000 participants from 37 virtual and physical contingents. The event will also pay a special tribute to all national servicemen in recognition of their service, sacrifice and continued support by their families and employers as National Service celebrates its 55th Anniversary. The show will conclude with a number of fireworks displays across Singapore.
