Seven in 10 mobility and HR leaders in Cartus’ Global Talent Mobility Survey 2024 shared that their mobility volume has increased or stayed the same in the last two years. The primary drivers for this? A lack of local talent, followed by company growth and expansion into different markets.

For the 30% who said they had seen a decline in activity in the last two years, the vast majority cited ‘cost containment strategy’ as the reason, 44% ahead of the next-cited reason, i.e., a reduction in volume across different markets.

While cost containment is indeed a pressing issue, it isn’t stopping companies from sustaining their mobility journey—in fact, 62% are planning to review their mobility policy. In the process, they are seeking cost-effective ways to support employee flexibility as well as their personal and career growth.
