Current Market Trends Impacting Temporary Living Services<\/h3>There\u00a0continues to be\u00a0pent-up demand for corporate housing.\u00a0The accommodations for talent mobility, travel, and relocation have never been under as much pressure as we see today.\u00a0Increasing\u00a0rates, limited availability, work from home\u00a0options, and millennials entering the homeowner market are all contributing factors. How did we get here? It starts with the shortage of new homes on the market today, but the root cause goes back much further.\n\nThe new construction of the types of buildings typically used for corporate housing has been declining\u00a0nationwide\u00a0since 2007. Additionally,\u00a0many\u00a0property owners for existing buildings are no longer renting to corporate housing companies\u00a0or they are significantly limiting the number of apartments available for corporate housing. Many property owners are no longer offering short-term leases,\u00a0and we have seen large rent increases across the\u00a0U.S.\u00a0\n\nSince the COVID-19 pandemic,\u00a0companies are struggling to hire workers in many sectors,\u00a0including the corporate housing industry. Due to the various labor shortages, many companies\u00a0cannot keep up with the demand for\u00a0the manufacturing\u00a0and\u00a0delivery of goods and services (furniture, lumber, building materials, etc.).\u00a0This limits the ability to deliver\u00a0fully furnished, move-in-ready units for corporate housing. It also drives up costs by over 15%, according to\u00a0National Corporate Housing<\/a>.\n\nIn addition, over the past three months\u00a0there has been a significant increase in travel, with levels trending to pre-pandemic levels.
